Description
- ESRB rated T -- published by D3Publisher -- Game Profile -- Screenshots
- Graphics: There's a range of styles, but most are simple low-res -- retro-stylish and functional.
- Sound: Basic like the graphics. It fits, but groovy background music would have been nice.
- Gameplay: Most games used only one or two buttons, and tended to be repetitive. Easy to pick up.
- Multiplayer: "Hire" friends via Ad Hoc, either with multiple UMDs or just one.
- Replay value: You'll have to play a lot to unlock all the games; you may or may not want to bother.
- Recommendation: Try it if you need a game you can play in short sessions with little thought.
Guide Review - WTF Work Time Fun
True Pick Up and Play
WTF really is a game you can just pick up and play anywhere. Each minigame has specific controls, but even if you decide to skip the how to instructions and jump right into a game, it's pretty easy to figure out how it works. The games are also designed to be played for a few minutes at a time, which will appeal to those looking for something to do at the dentist's office or bus stop. It does mean, though, that you're not likely to be held enthralled by any one game. I found most of the games I tried got boring after a few tries, but regained their fun factor after leaving them alone for a while.
Put Down
The main drawback for me was that you only had four games on the "job board" at a time. You can still access any game you have unlocked, but you won't get "paid" for any of them except the ones on the job board, and new games don't appear there until the old ones have been completed. And even though the jobs are simple, they require much patience and re-trying to complete.
Fun at Work
The idea of a virtual job board is fun, though. Make money "working" that you can then spend at vending machines to get gadgets and unlock new games. It's a nice frame for the collection of minigames, even if it doesn't add a whole lot to the gameplay.
Once I've played WTF a lot more, I'll write up an in-depth review.
