Why There's No Skype for PSP-1000
Monday January 7, 2008
Because the basic architecture of the older, heavier PSP-1000 and the newer, sleeker PSP-2000 (aka PSP Slim) are the same, you'd think Skype would work just as well on either one as long as you had the correct firmware installed. Alas, that isn't so. The reason, apparently, is memory. The newer model has twice the internal memory as the old one, making it fast enough with online operations to handle Skype. well pointed out but if one would redirect some of the memory sticks ram for use as a kind of page file that would extend the memory and skype would be possible.
there will be a port soon …
How can really nice games such as GTA vice city stories run smoothly on both PSP, the Original and the Slim version and an application like skype would require more “RAM”. I will NOT spend more money to buy a new PSP Slim even if they make SLIM only games…..
well even though they are the same they are also different. yes games are great on both but the problem is the psp updates. sony believes the older psp will have a system overload and crash. so if u really want skype you need to sell the old and buy new.
that sucks is there like any way to get it for psp 1001
can i use skype on psp1000 firmware- 4.01
As far as I know, there is still no way to use Skype on *any* PSP-1000 model (inluding 1001).
I have a PSP 1003 can I somehow force it to work on it?
Not as far as I know, sorry.
*****ing ******** companies… theyre just making the psp 2000 more attractive enough to buy so skype get their cut and so do sony in return..fucking monkeys..lol I hate it all.
