Many, Many PS1 Games for PSP

Thursday June 29, 2006
The latest news on PS1 emulation for the PSP is that there will be "up to" 7000 titles available by 2007. Yes, there are three zeroes after that seven. The news comes from a UK PSP magazine, and apparently among those 7000 titles will be Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Tomb Raider, Silent Hill, and Symphony of the Night.

There is still no word, however, on when exactly these PS1 games will be available for download to your PSP, or how much it'll all cost. I'm excited, though. I . . . er . . . never actually owned a PS1, and only played a few PS1 games on my PS2, so it'll be almost like getting 7000 brand new games to choose from. Except for the out-dated graphics, maybe, but on a handheld that won't be as noticeable. (Via Kotaku.)

I know that there is a service that you can download ps1 games to the psp, but I also think that you need a ps3 in order to do this, I am getting the ps3 hopfully at the lauch in the UK so this is not a prob, but it would be cool to download the games straight from the internet to my psp, can someone please help me:)

So far, you can only get PS1 games for the
PSP by downloading with a PS3, as you mentioned. Hopefully, there will eventually be a way to download them direct to PSP.

… Shame on you. I hope you realize that about 70% of the games for the PSP on the market today dosen’t feature much more graphics than an average PS1 game.. (difference is textur filtering)

Most of the old PS1 games have much more quality and soul than all PSP titels put together.

I think a lot of us are hoping for FF. At least there will be PSP versions of FF I and II (though not via PlayStation Network).
