More Modchip Tidbits

The latest gossip about the Undiluted Platinum modchip is that the chip might not be compatible with newer PSP hardware. The problem is apparently that the newer hardware uses a 1.8v power supply, while the chip supports 3.3v/2.5v. Blogger Ookm pointed out the potential problem, and PSP Updates has explained it in more detail. However, forum members over at DCEmu have compared the chip to the XBox modchip, pointing out that the chip is simply soldered in differently for different versions, allowing it to work with all of them. I guess it remains to be seen whether that is also the case for the PSP.
